Uganda is the richest African Birding destination, with some of East Africa’s rarest and most sought after birds. 50% of the continent's species can be seen in Uganda!

Various locations just outside Kampala offer the opportunity to see a multitude of different species. Depending on the time available and your particular interest, walks are available in a variety of different geographical areas in and around Kampala; from Swamps to Forests to Lake Shores. The Golf Course right in the City Centre also offers an excellent bird viewing opportunity if time is short.

Prices start from USD $100 per person, per day. This includes transport and a three to four hour walk with a trained bird guide.

Mabamba Swamp and Shore Line (Lake Victoria near Masaka)

About one and a half hours out of Kampala, Mabamba Swamp bird life includes many water birds such as the Shoebill Stork, Open-bill and Saddle-billed Storks, Goliath Heron, Black Herons, etc.

Prices range from USD $120 per person per day.

Mabira Forest

Green Parrot, Great Blue Turaco and several species of Hornbills.

Mpanga Forest

Western Grey Plantain Eaters, Great Blue Turaco, Ross's Turaco, Green Parrot and Hornbills.
