It was very good to meet you and thank you for organising such a good holiday for us. We all really enjoyed ourselves and in hindsight I think the mixture of game viewing at Murchison Falls, the adventure of gorilla tracking in Bwindi and the more gentle experience at Lake Mburo, with the various stops along the way, and contrasting lodges to stay in, was an ideal combination to keep the family's interest. We also loved the white water rafting at Jinja and the children had great beams on their faces. I liked our two guides/drivers and, not only did they drive us well, but they also looked after our interests by fitting the whole programme in and, in Robert's case, ensuring we all had the gorilla experience. We are very grateful. 03/09/2012 One of the longer tours. Start off in Murchison, then proceed south to Kibale and Queen Elizabeth then Bwindi and finally to Lake Mburo. At 0630hrs check out of your hotel and begin the scenic drive to Murchison Falls with a visit to the Rhino sanctuary. On arrival in the park, drop Luggage at the lodge and proceed for an afternoon/evening game-drive. On the early morning game drive, you may see Elephant, Lion, Buffalo, Giraffe, Hartebeests and many more. In the afternoon, proceed for a boat trip on the placid Victoria Nile, upstream, to the base of the Falls. En route you will see hippos, crocodiles, water buck and a wide variety of birds like the unusual shoebill stork. The boat stops just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. Take pictures of the photogenic and majestic Murchison Falls. Disembark from the boat and take a hike to the Top of the Falls where you can see the Nile’s beauty perfected!! Marvel at the Nile, compressing from 50 meters to squeeze through a 6-metre canyon dropping 40 meters with a thunderous roar creating a beautiful rainbow, a plume of spray and the best thing that happened to the Nile…”the Murchison Falls”. After early breakfast, drive out heading to Kibale Forest National Park. Estimated transit time is 7 hours with frequent stops to stretch your legs. The drive takes you through little towns and villages as you observe the African rhythm of life. On arrival, check into your preferred accommodation. After breakfast, you gather at the Kanyanchu headquarters for a briefing prior to the chimpanzee tracking. You spend the morning in the forest tracking the famous primates. Later in the afternoon, you have a Bigodi Swamp Walk. This is an initiative of the local people geared towards conservation in this area. On this walk you have chances for different bird & butterfly species, primates like black and white colobus monkey, red tailed monkey, blue monkey, grey-cheeked mangabeys, etc. There is also a variety of interesting plant species. This day you exit the park and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park. En route, you will visit some of the crater lakes that this area is famous for. On arrival have an introductory game drive in the park. Wake-up and follow your adventure instincts on a sunrise game-drive. Queen Elizabeth National Park’s diverse Eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Game drives in this park, with the massive Rwenzoris as a backdrop provide excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephants, de fassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, Topi and bush buck. Later after lunch, have an exciting boat cruise on the spectacular Kazinga Channel. This offers an excellent platform for photography and game viewing. The birdlife is colorful and abundant. You will be privileged to see schools of hippos and Nile-crocodiles sunbathing and opening wide their saw-like jaws. Return to your accommodation facility for overnight. This morning you follow the path of evolution as you track chimpanzees in the Kyambura Gorge. Later you have another rewarding game drive for more game and bird species. An early breakfast, exit the park heading to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The drive takes you through the Ishasha section of the park famous for its tree climbing lions. You have an opportunity to spot the famous tree-climbing lions, often seen languishing in Fig trees. After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular. The area offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but criss-crossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savored. Many find it to be a rare and moving opportunity. Sadly exit Bwindi and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park to arrive in time for the afternoon boat ride on the lake. Thereafter proceed for an evening game drive to end your day in a thrilling manner. Estimated transit time is 6 hours). Today, accompanied by an armed Ranger, take a morning safari walk, breakfast and an en-route game-drive as you exit the Park.
