SEMLIKI SAFARI LODGE

Bubibugyo district, Western Uganda bordering Congo Zaire

Mid-market to Budget

Semliki Lodge is the only lodge in the Semliki Valley, is a prime conservation area that boasts of a National Park, Game Reserve and a Montane Rainforest.

This unique geography is reflected in the diversity of wildlife species in the reserve that include big and small mammals, rich birdlife, butterflies and flora. These include the forest buffalo, darker-spotted leopard, forest elephant, lion, antelope species, warthog, buffalo, chimpanzee, southern and northern bid migrants and endemic bird species like the elusive shoebill which nests in the shores of Lake Albert.

Accommodation is in the form of large canvas tents with permanent thatched roofs. Each tent includes en-suite bathrooms with running water and private verandas each offering a stunning panoramic view. It is the only accommodation in over 500 square kilometres of wilderness, offering a truly private experience.

Built out of local materials, the main lodge has a rustic feel. It is a large, comfortable living space lined with comfortable sofas and armchairs where you can watch the sun set and chat the night away. Other facilities include an in-house masseuse and a swimming pool.

Semliki was built in the grand old safari tradition with canvas tents under thatched roofs but it is far from camping. The tents are lined with hardwood floors, four poster beds, Persian carpets, electric lights and bathrooms with hot water. When your tea or coffee is brought to you in the morning - you can sit in your bathrobe taking in the views of mountains and savanna, forest and river valley.

Outdoor  activities include chimpanzee trekking, game drives, guided walks, bird watching, boat trips on Lake Albert, visits to the local Batwa (pygmy) community, night drives, bush dinners/ breakfasts and sundowner barbeques.
